What if AI could accelerate your efficiency at work?

Part A: Foundational Theory on AI Agents Participants were introduced to the concept of AI agents—software systems that act as digital coworkers capable of executing tasks autonomously. The session explained how AI agents differ from traditional chatbots, explored the core anatomy of an agent (brain, memory, tools), and reviewed various types of agentic systems, from single to multi-agent architectures. Emphasis was placed on designing safe, responsible agents using proper guardrails. A beginner-friendly overview of APIs and HTTP requests was also included to help participants understand how AI agents interact with digital tools. Part B: Practical Demo – Build Your First AI Agent This hands-on section walked attendees through building a simple customer support AI agent using no-code tools like n8n, OpenAI, Gmail, and Google Sheets. The agent workflow includes triggering on a new email, filtering support queries, matching FAQs, generating a response, and sending the reply.

ROBERT BOB OKELLO

Hi, I’m Robert Bob Okello—an education technology entrepreneur, digital skills advocate, and AI evangelist passionate about empowering Africans to thrive in the new digital knowledge economy. My journey began in a small village in Northern Uganda where I was the first to own a laptop. With limited access to resources, I taught myself how to use it, and that curiosity sparked a lifelong mission: to ensure that no young person is left behind in the digital revolution simply because of where they were born. Now, we’ve entered the AI era—a moment as transformative as the internet boom. Understanding AI and being able to build with it is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. That’s why I’m so excited to share my knowledge. I believe in democratizing access to AI—not just as users, but as builders and problem-solvers.
